El 16 de junio Pro Wrestling NOAH realizará Grand Ship 2024 in Yokohoma, su siguiente show PPV. La cartelera incluye varios combates por Campeonatos, uno de ellos por el GHC Jr. Heavyweight Championship. Daga, luchador mexicano y actual Campeón de la división Junior de NOAH, defenderá el Campeonato ante Starboy Charlie en el evento.
Antes de que se realice este importante evento en Japón, Pep S. Caro tuvo la oportunidad de entrevistar a Daga. “El Jefe” respondió varias de las preguntas de Pep. Los temas fueron sus recientes visitas a México y Estados Unidos, la reunión de Stinger, su próxima defensa titular, Taiji Ishimori, Xena, una visita a Europa y más.

Entrevista con Daga: “Siempre me preparo al máximo, no conozco el descanso”
Pep: Estuviste un par de semanas en México y competiste en casa. ¿Cómo fue la experiencia por allá?
Daga: Ir a México siempre es bueno, caminar por las calles recordando de dónde vienes siempre es bueno para la motivación.
Pep: También tuviste algunas fechas en Estados Unidos durante este tiempo, incluido un evento especial con muchos miembros de Lucha Underground. ¿Qué puedes contarnos sobre esto?
Daga: Fue muy bueno ver viejos conocidos, enfrentarme a Brian Cage de nueva cuenta fue bueno sabes, no cabe duda que estoy al nivel de cualquier luchador élite. Hahaha.
Pep: Stinger se reunió el fin de semana pasado como previa a tu combate titular del 16 de junio. ¿Has estado conversando con Yoshinari Ogawa recientemente?
Daga: Siempre es bueno tener a Ogawa como consejero y así seguir aprendiendo.
Pep: En Grand Ship 2024 in Yokohama defenderás el GHC Jr Heavyweight Championship contra Starboy Charlie de West Coast Pro. ¿Cómo ha sido tu preparación para este combate y qué le espera a los fanáticos esa noche?
Daga: Siempre me preparo al máximo, no conozco el descanso, siempre estoy tratando de mantenerme en la mejor condición física posible, también trabajar en mi lucha dentro del ring es por eso que tengo tantas defensas sumadas hasta hoy.
Pep: Hubo luchadores de la división Jr de NOAH que compitieron en el Best of the Super Jr. 31 de NJPW, pero no lograron clasificar a semifinales. ¿Tienes algún interés en tenerlos como posibles rivales en caso de una defensa exitosa la próxima semana?
Daga: Tomé el cinturón de Hayata lo que significa que lo derrote cual sería mi intención y cuál sería el reto al enfrentarme a alguien que ya vencí.
Pep: Taiji Ishimori, finalista del Best of the Super Juniors 31, está nuevamente en la discusión de los mejores Jr en el mundo en actividad. Teniendo en cuenta que es el luchador cuyo récord deseas superar en NOAH, ¿te gustaría enfrentarlo como una eventual defensa número 10 u 11 del Campeonato?
Daga: Enfrentar al portador del récord sería algo sin igual. Derrotarlo para así terminar con su marca sería épico.
Pep: Aún no has podido competir en All Together y hay luchadores como El Desperado, Hiromu Takahashi y Douki que tienen influencia mexicana en sus estilos. ¿Hay algún oponente de las otras empresas que forman parte de UJPW que te gustaría enfrentar si se presenta la posibilidad?
Daga: Si no he competido no es por mi, yo estoy aquí la gente en Japón sabe de lo que soy capaz y representó. Tal vez están asustados.
Pep: Xena tendrá su primera oportunidad titular por un Campeonato Mundial este mes en Stardom y que se podría considerar el combate más importante de lo que va de su carrera. ¿Han estado entrenando o preparando algo juntos para este combate?
Daga: Xena y yo estamos trabajando para que ella llegue al máximo en su oportunidad titular no dudo de que hará lo mejor y que stardom vea pronto a una nueva campeona.
Pep: En septiembre, NOAH realizará una gira por Reino Unido en conjunto con Progress Wrestling. ¿Tienes algún interés en participar de esta gira y si hay algún oponente de Progress que te gustaría enfrentar?
Daga: Me hubiera gustado participar pero parece que mi presencia no fue solicitada para ese tour hahaha. De cualquier forma me encantaría poder luchar en Europa, no solo en el Reino Unido sino en todo el continente.

Pep: You spent a couple of weeks in Mexico and competed at home. How was the experience there?
Daga: Going to Mexico is always good, walking through the streets remembering where you came from is always good for motivation.
Pep: You also had a few dates in the United States during this time, including a special event with many members of Lucha Underground. What can you tell us about this?
Daga: It was very good to see old acquaintances, facing Brian Cage again was good, you know, there is no doubt that I am at the level of any elite fighter. Hahaha.
Pep: Stinger met last weekend as a preview of your championship match on June 16. Have you been chatting with Yoshinari Ogawa recently?
Daga: It is always good to have Ogawa as an advisor and thus continue learning.
Pep: At Grand Ship 2024 in Yokohama you will defend the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Championship against Starboy Charlie of West Coast Pro. How has your preparation been for thismatch and what awaits fans that night?
Daga: I always prepare to the maximum, I don’t know rest, I am always trying to stay in the best physical condition possible, also working on my match inside the ring, that is why I have so many defenses added to this day.
Pep: There were wrestlers from the NOAH Jr. division who competed in NJPW’s Best of the Super Jr. 31, but they failed to qualify for the semifinals. Do you have any interest in having them as possible rivals in case of a successful defense next week?
Daga: I took Hayata’s belt which means that I defeated him, which would be my intention and what would be the challenge when facing someone I already defeated.
Pep: Taiji Ishimori, finalist of the Best of the Super Juniors 31, is again in the discussion of the best Jrs in the world in activity. Taking into account that he is the wrestler whose record you want to surpass in NOAH, would you like to face him as an eventual defense number 10 or 11 of the Championship?
Daga: Facing the record holder would be something like no other. Defeating him to end his mark would be epic.
Pep: You haven’t been able to compete in All Together yet and there are wrestlers like El Desperado, Hiromu Takahashi and Douki who have Mexican influence in their styles. Are there any opponents from the other companies that are part of UJPW that you would like to face if the possibility arises?
Daga: If I have not competed it is not because of me, I am here, people in Japan know what I am capable of and what I represent. Maybe they are scared.
Pep: Xena will have her first championship opportunity for a World Championship this month at Stardom and it could be considered the most important match of her career so far. Have you been training or preparing anything together for this match?
Daga: Xena and I are working so that she reaches the maximum in her title opportunity. I have no doubt that she will do her best and that Stardom will soon see a new champion.
Pep: In September, NOAH will tour the United Kingdom in conjunction with Progress Wrestling. Do you have any interest in participating in this tour and are there any Progress opponents you would like to face?
Daga: I would have liked to participate but it seems that my presence was not requested for that tour hahaha. In any case I would love to be able to wrestle in Europe, not only in the United Kingdom but throughout the continent.
