Pep: En realidad, estuviste en Ibiza, de vacaciones, ¿no?
ELP: Cuatro días. ¿Cómo estuvo? Mi segunda vez. Fue muy bueno. No puedo contarte los detalles, pero me encantan las mujeres españolas y me encanta Ibiza. ¡Y me encanta bailar toda la noche, cariño!
Pep: Oh, eso es genial. Espero que lo hayas pasado genial.
ELP: Sí, por supuesto. Solo que el euro es muy caro en comparación con el dólar canadiense, así que me dolió un poco en la billetera, pero está bien.
Pep: ¡Genial! Y realmente espero que lo hayas pasado bien por allí porque te hemos visto sufrir un poco en New Japan. Ya sabes, en el lado emocional. No ha sido un buen momento para G .O .D., ya sabes, ahora estás solo con Jado.
ELP: Sí, sí. Tengo a Shota conmigo, ya sabes. Ha sido un poco difícil estar en un Bullet Club. Luego de que Jay (White) y Juice (Robinson) se fueran. Que te echara el grupo de (David) Finlay. Y sabes, creo que los fanáticos estaban esperándolo con ansias desde Foorbidden Door, cuando tuvimos ese spot loco con la mesa. Entonces, no sabían muy bien lo que íbamos a hacer y, para ser honesto fue el primer combate individual que tuve con Takeshita. Y es realmente difícil de explicar para alguien que no lucha, pero hay una química que tienes que no puedes forzar. Ya sabes, (The) Rock y (Steve) Austin tienen una química que no puedes fingir y sabes, realmente siento que Takeshita y yo tenemos esa química y espero con ansias lo que sea que hagamos en el futuro.

ELP: Tengo que dormir de ocho a diez horas. Tengo que recuperar el cuerpo. Tengo que relajarme, entrar en YouTube. Escuchar música, ir al gimnasio, hacer comida. A veces voy de excursión. A veces viajo por el mundo. A veces me quedo en casa y veo películas, ¿sabes? Todo depende de lo que traiga el día.

ELP: Siento que voy por ese camino. El G1 fue duro, pero, sabes que mucha gente está pasando por problemas mentales y esas cosas y depresión y ¿sabes? Está bien no estar bien. Tendrás tus altibajos. ELP: Thank you, brother. Thank you for having me. Hello, Spain!
Pep: He was actually in Ibiza, having a vacation, right?
ELP: Four days.
Pep: How was it?
ELP: My second time. It was very good. I can’t tell you the details, but I love Spanish women, and I love Ibiza. And I love dancing all night long, baby!
Pep: Oh, that’s cool. I hope you had an awesome time.
ELP: Yes, of course. Just the Euro is very expensive to the Canadian dollar, so… Oh, that’s right. It stung the wallet a little bit, but that’s okay.
Pep: Great! And I really do hope you had a good time over there, because we’ve seen you suffering a bit in New Japan. You know, in the emotional side.
ELP: Yeah.
Pep: It hasn’t been a good spot for G .O .D., you know, you are now alone with Jado.
ELP: Yeah, yeah. I’ve got Shota with me, you know. This has been a little difficult, being in a Bullet Club. Having Jay (White) and Juice (Robinson) leave. Getting kicked out by (David) Finlay’s group. Never getting revenge on Finlay or (Taiji) Ishimori, having the Tongans pick you up, invite you into G .O .D., and then you know, they all left, and now you’re back to being alone two and a half years after it all started. So, you know, I don’t think it’s going to last long, but I know I got to dig deep down, find out who I am, come back to these places like Germany and RevPro, where I became ELP and go back to New Japan at 100%.
Pep: Yeah! That’s actually true. Because we saw you breaking through the G1 Climax. Between July and August, and you had really good matches. Really intense matches, really emotional matches. Like you mentioned, you finally couldn’t have your revenge against Finlay. You were like really close, but unfortunately, you didn’t get the win, and during the G1 Climax you also get to expand your bond with Shota Umino. You guys were, well, you were tempted by evil, you know? There was this tease of you potentially joining House of Torture, so how was it?
ELP: They saw me at my most vulnerable state. They knew I wasn’t mentally there. There was a lot of things with Jado that I thought he was pulling the referee or hitting me. And it turned out that he wasn’t, but I was just very confused. And I think they saw that opportunity to pray on me. And thankfully, it was the fans in Ryogoku (Sumo Hall) that showed me so much love, that kept me on the path to lightness. Thank you fans in Ryogoku!
Pep: Yeah, it was really emotional, actually, because we didn’t thought, well, we were not sure what will happen till the end. And finally like you said Ryogoku was into you so much that you decided to stay in the path of light.
ELP: Yeah, I feel embarrassed that I even considered joining House of Torture for a second. I’m happy that I didn’t and when I’m ready, I’m gonna come back to New Japan stronger than ever. More fired up than ever. And I have to whoop some House of Torture ass. I think the Japanese fans would like that.
Pep: Yeah, in occident too, actually. But, also during the G1 Climax you had a banger. Arguably the best match of the tournament against Konosuke Takeshita. It was a really hot crowd. It was technically Amazing. So how was experiencing all that live? With all those components?
ELP: Yeah, it’s like you said. The crowd and the atmosphere at a sold-out Korakuen Hall really elevates matches to that next level. You know, I think if we would have done that somewhere on a house show country town, it wouldn’t have got the same recognition that it did in Korakuen Hall but you know Korakuen crowds feed us and we feed back off of them. And we had the preview tag the night before that people were amped up for and that was the first time that I finally felt good enough to turn my LED jacket on and the place went crazy.
And you know, I think the fans were looking forward to it ever since Foorbidden Door, when we had that crazy table spot. So, you didn’t quite know what we were gonna do and to be honest it was the first singles match I’ve ever had with Takeshita. And it’s really hard to explain from someone who doesn’t wrestle but there’s like a chemistry that you have that you can’t force. That you know, (The) Rock and (Steve) Austin have a chemistry that you can’t fake and you know, I really feel me and Takeshita have that chemistry and I’m looking forward to whatever we do in the future.
Pep: That’s cool! You guys will probably meet, I don’t know if inside the ring, but you will be in the same event, like in the opening night of Maple Leaf Wrestling.
ELP: Yeah, that’s very cool. That’s Scott D’Amore’s thing in Windsor. I’m a big fan of Scott D’Amore and everything. He’s done with TNA. I’ve never wrestled over in Windsor. I’ve only done a few shows on the East Coast in Canada, just because it’s so far from Vancouver. As soon as he offered me a spot on the shows, it was great. I don’t know if anything’s going to happen with Takeshita. I know he and Josh Alexander are going to wrestle. I don’t know if you can follow a Josh Alexander and Takeshita match with an ELP match, but there’s Speedball Mike Bailey on there. There’s a lot of great Canadian talent that I would love to face off that I’ve never had the opportunity to do before. But, I think Canada deserves the rematch. We’ll see what happens.
Pep: It will be cool, actually. Scott, if you’re watching this, you might consider to have that kind of banger in your opening night of your new promotion.
ELP: Maple Leaf Pro. Look it up. October 19th and 20th or something. Windsor.
Pep: Yeah, the thing is that now that you’re booked for that, we won’t be seeing you at Royal Quest. Because it’s the same date.
ELP: Right, but that was okay because I came over for the Copper Box last weekend and I’m going to 229 on Sunday. So, I get to wrestle one of your boys, Zozaya, who has a very similar path that I was on a few years ago, where Andy, the owner of RevPro, really likes what he sees with him and a young up -and -coming talent, just like he did with me a few years ago. That’s also going to be another special match inside the 229 that I’ve never been to. So, when I was in RevPro, it was the Cockpit. So, it will be my first time on 229. But I think it’s going to be a special hot crowd. I’m excited to see what happens. Excited to see what Zozaya’s got.
Pep: You know, it’s also special because it’s the first 229 after the Copper Box, after the anniversary show. Last year I went to that show. It was my first time at a regular RevPro show and the crowd was really hot. So, you will have the time of your life.
ELP: RevPro Cockpits were what we lived for every month when I was living in England. So, I’m really excited. I think 229 is a little bigger. I’m excited to see what the fans come with.
Pep: Okay! And also, like you mentioned, you will be wrestling on Sunday at RevPro, but you’ve been here with RevPro for Copper Box. Now in Germany with GWF and RevPro. So, how has it been returning to your roots?
ELP: Yeah, it’s been good. You know, I was here in Germany at the same time I was here in RevPro. I would fly over to Germany, do shows. Always got superstar reactions from the crowds in Germany. So, I think it’s been five years since I’ve been back. Is what some of the fans were saying. So, yeah, I’m happy to be here. I’m happy to wrestle Robbie X tomorrow in a singles match. We’ve got really good chemistry and I think it’s going to be a bigger crowd tomorrow. It’s a Saturday. It feels strange that it’s a Friday afternoon. People got to work and stuff, right?
Pep: Yeah!
ELP: I don’t know why there’s people there. They take the day off?
Pep: Probably.
ELP: It’s a holiday? I don’t even know.
Pep: Yeah, I don’t know. It’s my first time in Germany.
ELP: Yeah. How do you like it so far?
Pep: Oh, it’s great. The thing is that I expected that it will be with a better weather, like in the UK, because coming from Spain is also really hot like here. So, I wanted to escape a bit.
ELP: Yeah, it’s hot out here.
Pep: That’s okay.
ELP: Yeah.
PEP: Is there any goals for the reminding of the year for you?
ELP: Yeah, kind of clear the mental health, get that in check, get the body back feeling good. And then something that’s eluded me my whole time in New Japan is a singles title.
Pep: Yes!
ELP: I think a lot of fans have wanted that. And I have won the Super J Cup, the Junior Tag, Heavyweight Tag. I think it’s time. A singles title. Got to focus on that.
Pep: Yeah. And you still have to get your revenge on Finlay.
ELP: So, I believe that’s it. I know he’s got a singles title. I think a lot of people would like that.
Pep: Yeah, I would love that path, actually. It’s redemption, yeah.
ELP: There’s a lot of options. I really like what the NEVER title brings to the table. I like the idea of the TV title, with 15 minute matches only. There’s a plethora of belts, and you gotta start somewhere.
Pep: Finally, I want to know about the ELP but outside the ring, so can you tell us about your hobbies?
ELP: No.
Pep: Why?
ELP: It’s a secret.
Pep: Why?
ELP: Then it wouldn’t be a mystery of what I like to do. I mean, obviously I like cool fashion. I actually designed this t-shirt.
Pep: Oh, that’s cool!
ELP: Featuring two Japanese legends. Was on sale in Japan.
Pep: Yeah! And actually yesterday was the Stan Hansen’s birthday.
ELP: Oh, really? There you go. Happy birthday Stan Hansen! Yeah, I do a lot of graphic design. Make things on the computer.
Pep: So, you design your own merch?
ELP: I do make my logos and make my music.
Pep: That’s awesome!
ELP: I like to collaborate with a lot of people. There’s a lot of more talented people than I am but I’ve got a pretty good eye for design and music and, you know, making my own costumes and design my new outfits and trying to make these new LED glasses for sale. You know, you have so many options to be creative in wrestling. That I do it all.
Pep: So, you’re the whole package.
ELP: The whole package. I mean, I used to edit cartoons and make videos EA Sports before I wrestled. So, I have a good background in the creative industry, video games and digital video, TV shows and stuff. So, I like doing that.
Pep: That’s great!
ELP: Going on hikes, going swimming, parting in Ibiz, parting in Berlin, doing wrestling shows, hanging out.
Pep: That’s the life, man!
ELP: Drinking tangy drinks and yeah!
Pep: And how does a regular day in your piece life look like?
ELP: Gotta get eight to ten hours of sleep. Gotta recover the body. Gotta relax, go on YouTube. Listen to music, go to the gym, make food. Sometimes go on hike. Sometimes travel the world. Sometimes just sit at home and watch movies, you know? All depends on what the day brings.

ELP: I feel it’s on the way. The G1 was rough, but, you know a lot of people are going through mental issues and stuff and depression and you know? It’s okay to not be okay. ELP: I really hope I can come back. I did one show in Barcelona a long time ago but I would love to come back. Madrid, Barcelona, Marbella Malaga, Ibiza. Latin America? Wrestling in Mexico. Everywhere! Spanish, Spanish women are beautiful! I love.
