New Japan Pro Wrestling acaba de realizar una nueva edición del G1 Climax, torneo de lucha libre considerado como el más importante en el mundo. La edición 34 tuvo como ganador a Zack Sabre Jr., luchador británico considerado como el mejor luchador técnico en el mundo. ZSJ entró a una lista selecta y se convirtió en el segundo extranjero en ganar el torneo.
NJPW aprovechó la jornada final del G1 Climax 34 para confirmar Royal Quest IV, una nueva edición de su icónico evento en Reino Unido, para el 20 de octubre en Crystal Palace, Londres. Antes de que se realice este nuevo evento en Europa y Capital Collision el 30 de agosto en Washington, DC, Pep S. Caro tuvo la oportunidad de entrevistar a Hiromu Takahashi. El carismático luchador conocido como “The Tickin’ Time Bomb” respondió varias de las preguntas de Pep. Los temas fueron el su tiempo en México, revancha contra Mustafa Ali en Capital Collision, El Desperado y el estado actual de la división Junior de NJPW, ser miembro de Los Ingobernables de Japón, dream match, hobbies, objetivos y más.

Entrevista con Hiromu Takahashi (NJPW): Lo profesional y lo personal (Spanish & English)
Pep: El 24 de agosto de 2024 celebraste tu 14º aniversario como luchador profesional. ¡Muchas felicidades! ¿Cuáles consideras tus momentos favoritos de tu carrera?
Hiromu: Mi combate más memorable sería el del 24 de enero de 2016. Fue Korakuen Hall, Fantasticamania- Kamaitachi vs Dragon Lee.
Pep: Formas parte de Los Ingobernables de Japón, una de las facciones más importantes y populares de la lucha libre mundial. Este año, a pesar de que fue un reinado de corta duración, pudiste ganar un campeonato haciendo equipo con otros miembros de LIJ por primera vez. ¿Qué significan para ti la facción y tus compañeros?
Hiromu: LIJ puede que sea mayoritariamente japonesa con nuestros miembros, pero no tenemos la jerarquía japonesa habitual. No hay cosas de senpai kohai (miembro veterano y miembro novato), todos somos iguales, y eso es lo que más me conviene.
Pep: Desde 2023 has estado compitiendo anualmente en una gira en México con CMLL, una empresa que sabemos que tiene un lugar especial en tu corazón y carrera. ¿Cómo ha sido vivir esta experiencia? ¿Qué sensaciones te dejaron los encuentros individuales contra Mistico y Templario?
Hiromu: México es donde realmente aterricé en mi estilo como luchador. Es donde nació Hiromu Takahashi, el luchador que ves hoy, y siempre estaré agradecido por eso. No me veo rechazando nunca una oportunidad de luchar ahí… aunque definitivamente me siento amargado por perder contra Mistico. Necesito venganza por eso. ¿Momentos memorables? Bueno, tendría que ser en Puebla, ¡al regresar de luchar ahí vi un OVNI! ¡Lo digo en serio!
Pep: El 30 de agosto, en NJPW Capital Collision 2024, volverás a enfrentarte a Mustafa Ali. En el primer combate, Ali te derrotó e incluso reclamó no haber sido incluido entre los participantes de Best of the Super Juniors. ¿Cómo ha sido tu preparación para esta revancha? ¿Cuáles son tus impresiones de Ali como competidor?
Hiromu: Ali es fuerte, es rápido y tiene una gran apariencia. Pero hay algo que le falta como luchador. Algo importante. Ahora, ¿qué crees que es eso?
Pep: El Desperado, quien es considerado tu mayor rival, está lesionado. Además, DOUKI es el actual IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion. ¿Crees que estamos viviendo un cambio de paradigma en la división Junior?
Hiromu: Verás, no creo que haya habido un gran cambio en la división junior todavía. Mientras Hiromu y El Desperado estén cerca y no haya alguien con la presencia, con el aura que tenemos nosotros, ¿no? ¡Todavía no, amigo!
Pep: Se ha hablado mucho de que ya has ganado todo lo que un Junior puede ganar en NJPW y que podrías hacer la transición a la división Heavyweight. ¿Qué opinas? ¿Crees que deberías quedarte en la división Junior? ¿O en todo caso, participar en ambas como lo hace actualmente TJP?
Hiromu: Definitivamente quiero luchar contra los pesos pesados. El 9 de septiembre en Korakuen Hall tengo la oportunidad de hacerlo contra HENARE por el título NEVER Openweight. Creo que verás la verdadera esencia del pro-wrestling con ese combate.
Pep: Queremos saber un poco más de ti. ¿Podrías contarnos tus hobbies? ¿Qué cosas te gustan además de la lucha libre?
Hiromu: Hace poco me compré una bicicleta eléctrica y la he estado montando mucho. Normalmente soy un tipo de persona más de interiores, así que quería conseguir algo que me hiciera salir al exterior.
Pep: Has competido en otras empresas de Japón en el último año como DDT Pro, NOAH, GLEAT y más. ¿Cómo ha sido vivir esta experiencia representando a Los Ingobernables de Japón y NJPW?
Hiromu: Lo más importante es el sentimiento y la emoción. Eso pasa con todo el wrestling, pero especialmente en una situación así, tienes que mostrar la confianza en ti mismo que te da ser de donde vienes.
Pep: Si pudieras traer a cualquier luchador del mundo para competir contra ti, ¿a quién elegirías? ¿Podrías darnos un par de ejemplos?
Hiromu: Tetsuya Naito, Finn Balor y… Dragon Lee.
Pep: ¿Tienes objetivos específicos para lo que queda de 2024? ¿Qué harás para que se hagan realidad?
Hiromu: No tengo un plan en sí… Pero el año que viene será mi 15º aniversario, así que quiero hacer algo realmente grande.
Pep: ¿Tienes algún mensaje para tus fans en Latinoamérica y España? Son países donde se habla español, y donde los fans siguen tu trabajo y te apoyan, a pesar de la distancia y la barrera del idioma.
Hiromu: Muchos de ustedes me llaman ‘Takahashi’ cuando estoy en el extranjero. ¡Qué formal! ¡Llámenme Hiromu! Mejor aún: ¡Hiromu-chan!

Pep: On August 24, 2024 you will celebrate your 14th Anniversary as a professional wrestler. Congratulations! What do you consider your favorite moments of your career?
Hiromu: My most memorable match would be January 24 2016. It was Korakuen Hall, Fantasticamania- Kamaitachi vs Dragon Lee.
Pep: You are part of Los Ingobernables de Japon, one of the most important and popular factions in world wrestling. This year, even though it was a short-lived reign, you were able to win a Championship by teaming up with other LIJ members for the first time. What do the faction and your companions mean to you?
Hiromu: LIJ might be mostly Japanese with our members, but we don’t have the usual Japanese hierarchy. There’s no senpai kohai stuff, we’re all equal, and that suits me the best.
Pep: Since 2023 you have been competing anually on a tour in Mexico with CMLL, a company that we know holds a special place in your heart and career. What has it been like to live this experience? What feelings did the singles matches against Mistico and Templario leave you?
Hiromu: Mexico is where I really landed on my style as a wrestler. It’s where Hiromu Takahashi, the wrestler you see today, was born, and I’ll always be grateful for that. I don’t see ever turning down an opportunity to wrestle there… although I definitely feel sour about losing to Mistico. I need revenge for that. Memorable moments? Well, it would have to be in Puebla- on my way back from wrestling there I saw a UFO! I’m serious!
Pep: On August 30, at NJPW Capital Collision 2024, you will face Mustafa Ali again. In the first match, Ali defeated you and even claimed not to have been included among the Best of the Super Juniors participants. How has your preparation been for this rematch? Do you have any strategy prepared? What are your impressions of Ali as a competitor?
Hiromu: Ali is strong, he’s fast and he has a great look. But there’s something that he’s missing as a wrestler. Something important. Now, what do you think that is?
Pep: El Desperado, who is considered your greatest rival, is injured. Additionally, DOUKI is the current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion. Do you think we are experiencing a paradigm shift in the Junior division?
Hiromu: You see, I don’t think there has been a big shift in the junior division yet. As long as Hiromu and El Desperado are around, and there isn’t someone with the presence, with the aura we have, right? Not yet, amigo!
Pep: There has been a lot of talk that you have already won everything a Junior could win in NJPW and that you could make the transition to the Heavyweight division. What do you think? Do you think you should stay in the Junior division? Or in any case, participate in both as TJP currently does?
Hiromu: I definitely want to wrestle heavyweights. September 9 in Korakuen Hall I have the chance to do that against HENARE for the NEVER Openweight title. I think you’ll see the true essence of pro-wrestling with that match.
Pep: We want to know a little more about you. Could you tell us your hobbies? What things do you like besides wrestling?
Hiromu: I got an electric bike recently, and I’ve been riding it around a lot. I’m usually an indoorsy type so I wanted to get something that made me go outside.
Pep: You’ve competed in other companies in Japan in the last year such as DDT Pro, NOAH, GLEAT and more. What has it been like to live this experience representing Los Ingobernables de Japon and NJPW?
Hiromu: The most important thing is feeling and emotion. That’s the case with all wrestling, but especially in a situation like that, you have to show the self confidence that comes from being from where you’re from.
Pep: If you could bring any wrestler in the world to compete against you, who would you choose? Could you give us a couple of examples?
Hiromu: Tetsuya Naito, Finn Balor and… Dragon Lee.
Pep: Do you have specific goals for the remainder of 2024? What will you do to make them come true?
Hiromu: I don’t have a plan per se… But next year will be my 15th anniversary, so I want to be doing something really big.
Pep: Do you have any message for your fans in Latin America and Spain? They are countries where Spanish is spoken, and where fans follow your work and support you, despite the distance and the language barrier.
Hiromu: A lot of you guys call me ‘Takahashi’ when I’m overseas. So formal! Call me Hiromu! Better yet- Hiromu-chan!
