JJ: ¡Gracias! Es bueno estar aquí. Hablemos de lucha libre.
Pep: ¿Estás listo?
JJ: ¡Vamos!
Pep: Vayamos literalmente al comienzo de tu carrera. ¿Puedes contarnos cuándo y por qué decidiste convertirte en luchador profesional?
JJ: Sí, siempre crecí viendo lucha libre. Así que siempre fue algo que disfruté, se convirtió en una especie de pasión. Como mucha gente, ya sabes, quizás llegas a cierta edad, no la superas. Como mucha gente, seguía viéndola, quería saber más sobre ella. Y luego fue probablemente alrededor de los 13, 14 años. Recuerdo estar en una lección de carreras en la escuela donde te dicen que debes comenzar a planificar tu futuro. Pep: ¡Genial! Eres uno de los luchadores icónicos de RevPro. Y tienes el apodo de Corazón y Alma de Revolution Pro Wrestling. Entonces, ¿puedes decirnos qué significa la promoción para ti personalmente? ¿Y cuándo empezó este apodo?
JJ: Sí, absolutamente. Bueno, para mí, RevPro ha sido un hogar. Veo que es mi promoción de casa. Es donde he crecido y me he desarrollado como un hombre joven. Y también como luchador profesional y poder brindarme las oportunidades de enfrentar a algunos de los mejores, de cometer errores. De fallar, aprender, mejorar, desafiarme. Estoy realmente agradecido por las oportunidades que RevPro y Andy me han dado. Entonces, ¿cómo ha sido el proceso de luchar con ese talento internacional? JJ: Sí, quiero decir que ha sido una gran oportunidad, ¿sabes? Parte de un grupo selecto que tiene la oportunidad de estar en una promoción donde estos luchadores vendrán y a unos pocos se les ha dado la oportunidad de luchar con ellos. Entonces, hay mucha confianza por parte del jefe. Creemos que estás listo para esto y también fue una gran experiencia de aprendizaje, como dije, ¿sabes? Llegarás allí con los mejores del mundo y aprenderás, ¿sabes? Habrá cosas que desearías haberlo hecho de manera diferente. Pero aprenderás de eso y habrá cosas que simplemente encajen y se te queden. Pep: ¡Perfecto! Y, además, has estado compitiendo en diferentes partes no solo del Reino Unido sino también en Europa. Entonces, ¿puedes contarnos sobre tu experiencia en todas esas diferentes promociones?
JJ: Sí, quiero decir, he logrado ir a algunas. Lo cual ha sido, sí, ha sido realmente bueno. Divertido. Es genial salir y ver las diferentes partes de Europa. Y la escena de lucha libre allí. Quiero decir que estamos encantados y afortunados aquí en el Reino Unido de tener una escena tan rica. Tantas promociones. Tanto talento, tantos fans. Y lo que encuentro al ir a estos lugares europeos tal vez no hay tanta lucha libre como la que tenemos aquí en el Reino Unido. Así que esa pasión y ese entusiasmo por ser un fan y disfrutar de la experiencia de ver lucha libre profesional en vivo es genial. Y hay tanta energía en la sala donde sea que esté. Y me encanta rebotar en ella y devolverle toda esa energía a la multitud.
Pep: Ahora vamos a Global Wars UK. Es el regreso de un evento icónico que se celebró en el Reino Unido, ahora organizado por RevPro. Tenemos luchadores de diferentes promociones en todo el mundo. Los mejores talentos de esas promociones. Y tienes un combate en el que volverás a formar equipo con tu ex compañero de equipo, Callum Newman, ahora en New Japan. Enfrentando a una de las facciones más importantes de la lucha libre profesional, que son Los Ingobernables de Japón, LIJ. Y te enfrentarás a Hiromu Takahashi y Titan. Entonces, ¿cómo te sientes al volver a hacer equipo con Callum? ¿Y saber que te enfrentarás a posiblemente el mejor peso pesado junior de la última década y uno de los mejores luchadores de México?
JJ: Sí, quiero decir, una vez más, volvemos a lo que dijimos antes, es una gran oportunidad. Tengo mucha suerte de estar en esta posición de nuevo. Entrando allí con los mejores talentos y ahora todavía se trata de aprender. Todavía se trata de desarrollarme, pero a medida que avance en mi carrera en esta etapa. Creo que para nosotros y los fans ver y estar allí, con esos dos muchachos, quiero decir, más adelante me preguntarás sobre las personas con las que quiero luchar. Alguien como Takahashi ha estado en esa lista por un tiempo. Entonces, simplemente entrar allí con alguien de su calibre y Titan. Va a ser una locura. Tengo muchas ganas de hacerlo. Pep: Ahora, yendo más allá de la lucha libre, quiero saber un poco sobre ti como persona. Entonces, ¿puedes contarnos sobre tus pasatiempos y tu vida diaria?
JJ: Sí, supongo que la lucha libre ocupa mucho tiempo. Especialmente cuanto más ocupado y exitoso te vuelves. Es más exigente para tu vida porque ocupa mucho tiempo. Algo con lo que no tengo ningún problema. También es mi mayor pasión. Me encanta hacerlo y estoy realmente decidido a tener éxito. Así que ese es el camino que hay que seguir y sí, estoy totalmente a favor. Estoy atado para el viaje. Pero cuando no estoy luchando, me encanta entrenar, ir al gimnasio o mantenerme saludable. Salir a la naturaleza, estar fuera tanto como puedo, ya sabes, crecí junto al mar en Inglaterra. Así que me encanta estar en lugares así. ¡Música! Soy un gran fanático de la música. Así que me encanta ir a conciertos de música. Y todo tipo de cosas diferentes por el estilo, así que probablemente sean algunas de las principales cosas fuera de la lucha libre.
Pep: ¡Genial! Ahora bien, independientemente de la promoción, ¿hay algún oponente al que no te hayas enfrentado todavía y al que te gustaría enfrentarte?
JJ: ¡Sí! Quiero decir, obviamente hay una lista completa que podríamos seguir por años. Intento reducirla a unos pocos. Sabes, tienes combates de ensueño. Alguien como PAC. Alguien a quien he admirado durante la mayor parte de mi carrera. Si alguna vez tengo la oportunidad de subirme al ring con él, lo cual espero algún día, definitivamente sería un combate de ensueño. JJ: ¡Gracias!
Pep: Y finalmente, ¿cuáles son tus objetivos para el año que viene?
JJ: ¿El año que viene? ¿Objetivos? Bueno, todavía estamos trabajando y eliminando los objetivos para este año. Pero mirando un poco hacia el futuro, siempre buscamos más oro en campeonatos como luchadores profesionales. Mantenerme ocupado. JJ: Thank you! It’s good to be here. Let’s chat wrestling.
Pep: Are you ready?
Let’s go!
Pep: Let’s go literally to the beginning of your career. Can you tell us when and why you decided to become a professional wrestler?
JJ: Yes, I’ve always growing up watching wrestling. So, it was kind of always something I enjoyed, became a bit of a passion. Like a lot of people, you know, you maybe get to a certain age, you don’t grow out of it. Like a lot of people do, kept watching it, and wanted to know more about it. And then it was probably around the age of 13, 14. I remember being in a careers lesson at school where they tell you, you know, you need to start planning for your future. And it’s the first time I thought about past education and I thought, you know what? What do I want to do? And it didn’t seem like the right answer. So, I didn’t like say it out loud, but in my head I was like, I think I just want to be a pro wrestler. Ok! So, that was probably the first time I thought about it. And it kind of just went on from there.
Pep: Great! You’re one of the iconic wrestlers of RevPro. And you have the nickname of the Heart and Soul of Revolution Pro Wrestling. So, can you tell us what does the promotion mean to you personally? And when does this nickname started?
JJ: Yeah, absolutely. Well, for me, RevPro has been a home. I see it’s my home promotion. It’s where I’ve grown and developed as a young man. And also as a professional wrestler and be able to afford me the opportunities to face some of the best, to make mistakes. To fail, to learn, to get better, to rise to the challenge. I’m really grateful for the opportunities that RevPro and Andy have given me. So, the whole Heart and Soul of Revolution Pro Wrestling, it’s kind of something that for me, it felt true because I started at the bottom. I paid money to go to the Portsmouth School of Wrestling because in my eyes, I wanted to be on Revolution Pro Wrestling. That was the best place I could possibly be, so I thought I’d start at the bottom. Llike everyone else. Going along, training, work my way up through the training school to be a contender and then on from being a contender graduated. Sort of, you know, I feel like I’m at the nucleus of what Revolution Pro Wrestling is, you know? My homegrown wrestler. That has gone from the very bottom of the pile to where we are now which is fighting in many big matches and main events. We’re still going until we reach that British Heavyweight Championship but that is why I am the soul of Revolution Pro.
Pep: That’s the goal?
JJ: Absolutely! Yeah!
Pep: Over the past year you have been wrestling different opponents from New Japan Pro Wrestling. You faced Kosei Fujita. You faced Zack Sabre Jr., the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, and you faced Tomohiro Ishii. Former Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion. So, how has been the process of wrestling that international talent? Like you mentioned before, RevPro has allowed you to have these big names coming over as opponents. And which lessons do you think you have learned from those matches?
JJ: Yes, I mean it’s been a great opportunity, you know? Part of a select few that get an opportunity to be in a promotion where these wrestlers will come and a select few have been given the opportunities to wrestle them. So, there’s a lot of confidence from the boss. That we think you’re ready for this and it was also a great learning experience like I say, you know? You’re getting there with the best in the world and you’re gonna learn, you know? There’s gonna be things you wish you did differently but you’re gonna learn from that and there’s gonna be things that just click in there that stick with you. And you take forward. So, yeah, they’ve been great learning experiences. I feel like it has helped me grow and develop. And figure out, you know, these little things, little nuanced things that make the best professional wrestlers in the world. And when you’re seeing it firsthand, wrestling these guys or maybe watching the match back, then you can just implement that. And figure out how you make that your own and I think it just creates a well-rounded pro wrestler.
Pep: Perfect! And also, you have been competing in different parts not only of the UK but also in Europe. So, can you tell us about your experience in all those different promotions?
JJ: Yeah, I mean, I’ve managed to get out to a few. Which has been, yeah, it’s been real good. Fun. It’s great to go out and see the different sort of parts of Europe. And the wrestling scene there. I mean we’re delighted and lucky here in the UK to have such a rich scene. So many promotions. So much talent, so much fans. And what I find going to these European places maybe they don’t get quite as much wrestling as we do here in the UK. So that passion and that zest for being a fan and enjoying the experience of watching live pro wrestling is great. And there’s so much energy in the room wherever it is and I just love bouncing off that and giving all that energy back to the crowd.
Pep: Now going to Global Wars UK. Is the return of an iconic event held in the UK now held by RevPro. We have wrestlers from different promotions worldwide. Top talent from those promotions. And you have a match teaming once again with your former tag team partner, Callum Newman, now in New Japan. Facing one of the most important factions in professional wrestling, which is Los Ingobernables de Japon, LIJ. And you will be facing Hiromu Takahashi and Titan. So, what are your feelings getting to teaming up again with Callum? And knowing that you are facing arguably the best junior heavyweight of the last decade and one of the top luchadors in Mexico?
JJ: Yeah, I mean, once again, it goes back to what we said earlier, it’s a great opportunity. I’m very lucky to be in this position again. To step in there with top talent and now it’s still about learning, it’s still about developing, but as I move on through my career at this stage. It’s about showing that I can belong to that top talent, that I can be regarded as top talent alongside them when it comes to the UK. And the independent scene. So, I’m excited to get in there. Reunion with Callum. The last time we teamed was February 2023. So, that’s what over a year and a half ago and since then he’s gone to Japan and become a star and got tons better. I’ve been here in the UK building my stock here and becoming tons better. So, to show the wrestlers that we are today. And how we now mesh as a team. It’s going to be really cool. I think for us and the fans to see and to get in there with those two guys. I mean, later on you’re going to ask me about people I want to wrestle, someone like Takahashi has been on that list for a while. So, just step in there with someone the caliber of him and Titan It’s going to be insane. I’m really looking forward to it. So, expect good things.
Pep: Now going outside of wrestling I want to know a little bit about you as a person So. can you tell us about your hobbies and your daily life?
JJ: Yeah, so I guess wrestling takes up a lot of time, especially the more busy and successful you get with it. It’s the more taxing it becomes on on your life because it takes up so much time. Which I’ve got no problem with. It’s my biggest passion as well. I love to do and I’m really hell bent on success. So, that’s the path it takes and hell Yeah, i’m all for it. I’m strapped in for the ride. But when i’m not wrestling, I love training, going to the gym or staying healthy. Getting out in nature, being out as much as I can, you know, I grew up by the seaside in England. So, I love sort of being like in places like that. Music! Big fan of music. So, I love going out to music gigs. And all sorts of different stuff like that, so they’re probably some of the main things outside of wrestling.
Pep: Great! Now, regardless of the promotion, is there any opponent that you haven’t faced yet that you would like to face?
JJ: Yeah! I mean, obviously there’s a whole list that we could we could go on for ages. I try and narrow it down to a few. You know, you’ve got absolute dream matches. Someone like PAC. Someone I’ve looked up to for most of my career. If I ever get the opportunity to step in the ring with him, which I hope to one day, that would be definitely a dream match. You know, if we’re going as wild as we can get someone like Rey Mysterio, you know, he’s an icon of the sport. Revolutionize what pro wrestling is in the mainstream world, so yeah, I’d love to get in there with him. A bit closer to home, you know, there’s guys in the UK I still haven’t got one or more matches with, someone like Dereiss. Cara Noir, you know? Guys that aren’t maybe regulars in RevPro but have made a big name for themselves in British Wrestling. And the idea of matches with them is a pretty nice prospect.
Pep: Yeah! Those will be exciting matches actually.
JJ: Thank you!
Pep: And finally, what are your goals for next year?
JJ: Next year? Goals? Well, we’re still working and taking off the goals for this year. But looking ahead a little bit, some more championship gold is always what we’re after as pro wrestlers. Being busy, getting out there I’d like to hit some of those other top promotions across Europe and just take what the RevPro audience know and sort of show that in even more fans across Europe and across the world. And just keep growing that brand of JJ Gale and showing people what I’m all about. So, yeah! That’s a couple of things off the top of my head. When you get to the start of next year, I’ll be able to tell you some specific goals I’ve set. But just getting bigger, better, and becoming a better professional wrestler.

JJ: Yeah, absolutely! Guys, I appreciate your support on this journey. I’m the heart and soul, but really, I get my passion and I get my energy from all your support, you know? Each time going out there, it’s your energy, it’s your support, It’s your enthusiasm, which fuels me to keep going. So, keep giving me all of that, and in return, I’ll give you everything. I’ve got in the ring and expect big things in the next year.
