Kuro es un luchador frances con experiencia internacional, incluso en Estados Unidos. Luego de hacer su debut en España, Pep S. Caro tuvo la oportunidad de entrevistar a “Mr. Hype” de forma exclusiva en Barcelona.
Nos gustaría destacar que esta es la primera entrevista que Kuro realiza para cualquier medio informativo en español.

Entrevista con “Mr Hype” Kuro (APC Catch): Lo profesional y lo personal (Spanish & English)
Pep: Hola amigos, ¡bienvenidos de nuevo! Nos acompaña un nuevo luchador, se trata de Mr. Hype, Kuro. ¡Bienvenido Kuro! Es un placer tenerte aquí.
Kuro: ¡Gracias, gracias! Un placer.
Pep: Bien, tenemos algunas preguntas para ti hoy. ¿Estás listo?
Kuro: Sí, seguro.
Pep: ¡Genial! Entonces, volvamos al comienzo de tu carrera. Entonces, puedes contarnos, ¿cuándo decidiste convertirte en luchador profesional?
Kuro: Tomé la decisión en 2017, recién había terminado la escuela secundaria. Entonces, pensé que desde hace años quería ser luchador profesional, así que pensé, bueno, ahora que terminé la escuela, diría… Puedo seguir mi carrera de luchador profesional, puedo comenzar a entrenar y esas cosas. Entonces, sí, simplemente busqué una escuela y encontré APC (Catch). Estaba como a 30 minutos de mi casa. Así que fue muy fácil ir. Fui allí e hice una prueba. Diría que 2 o 3 entrenamientos. Fue realmente bueno, me sentí bien, no sentí que mi cuerpo estuviera adolorido o algo así, me sentí realmente bien, así que pensé, pk, simplemente voy a seguir, y ahora aquí estamos.
Pep: ¡Eso es genial! ¿Tienes referencias para tu estilo de lucha libre?
Kuro: Yo diría que mis referencias se basan más en Kazuchika Okada. Es uno de mis luchadores favoritos. Diría que The Rock, la forma en que me presento y esas cosas es similar a The Rock. Diría que también hay de los que no son luchadores, pero son mis referencias para mi personaje, como Kanye West y Kendrick Lamar. Tengo que inspirarme en ellos, y diría que Roderick Strong. Strong también es una gran, gran influencia, el estilo fuerte de él es una de mis cosas favoritas de él, y la forma en que es explosivo es una de mis favoritas también.
Pep: ¡Perfecto! Por lo general compites en la escena francesa, así que ¿puedes contarnos sobre el estado actual de la misma?
Kuro: Entonces, diría que el estado actual de Francia es como si la escena estuviera en auge, la escena realmente está creciendo. Los chicos que están entrenando y ahora están en los shows y están empezando a aparecer en la escena. Puedes verme con Mecha, por ejemplo, él es mi compañero de equipo. Hemos estado en Irlanda, Escocia. Así que sí, creo que la escena francesa está en auge en este momento.
Pep: ¡Eso es genial, es saludable para toda la escena europea! Y ahora quería hablar sobre tu experiencia en el extranjero porque sé que has estado en diferentes países de Europa. Tuviste un gran debut en los Estados Unidos a principios de este año, ¿nos puedes contar sobre eso?
Kuro: Claro, ir a Estados Unidos… fue mi primera vez en Estados Unidos. Así que, creo que fue un sueño para mí no solo luchar en Estados Unidos, sino simplemente ir allá. Basándome en la influencia que tengo sobre la música, las películas y todo. Y se sintió como un gran momento de logro para mí. No puedo esperar a estar de regreso en los Estados Unidos y hacer cosas mucho más grandes. Pero sí, lo que hice este año fue realmente… ¿Cómo diría? Un punto importante, diría, ¿sabes? Punto importante, sí, sí, estoy realmente agradecido de haber estado allí. Espero volver pronto.
Pep: Ojalá. Tuviste algunos combates importantes este año. Vas a tener más antes de que termine el año. Pero si pudieras elegir a tu oponente, digamos un combate de ensueño, ¿a quién elegirías?
Kuro: Pues, uno de mis dream match es uno que se llevará a cabo la próxima semana, el 8 de diciembre contra LJ Cleary. Ese fue uno de mis combates de ensueño en la escena. El próximo es, diría que en Europa, el mejor al que quiero enfrentar es Michael Oku. Sí, creo que es el mejor para mí en Europa. Y también uno de los mejores del mundo. Entonces, para mí, llegar al siguiente nivel al que me estoy dirigiendo en realidad. Pero para ir más allá, creo que tengo que enfrentarme a él. Y creo que también es un gran tipo. Bueno, no un gran tipo, pero sí, quiero enfrentarme a él. Creo que era el número uno en mi lista. También tenía anotado a Leon Slater. Pero ya nos hemos enfrentado antes, así que quisiera volver a hacerlo también. Y yo diría, también a Zozaya. Después de verlo esta noche e incluso algunos shows cuando ambos estábamos en los mismos shows, creo que el es el chico al que también quiero enfrentar.
Pep: Genial. Destacaré la mención de Michael Oku porque uno de sus luchadores favoritos es The Rock, así que estás coincidiendo en ese aspecto.
Kuro: Sí, pero soy mejor fan y más fan de The Rock que Michael Oku. Sí, no hay nadie como yo como fan de The Rock. Así que, sí, Oku puede dejar esa posición. Soy el fan número uno de The Rock.
Pep: Y ahora quería saber si tienes un objetivo específico para el próximo año.
Kuro: Probablemente diría, estar más en Reino Unido. Sí, comencé a entrar en la escena del Reino Unido este año. Diría, estar más en la escena de allá, conocer algunos países nuevos. También volver a España. Me encantó la experiencia que tuve hoy. Bueno, sí, volver a España lo antes posible, la verdad. Y también diría que Japón, diría que tengo muchas ganas de probar Japón, la lucha japonesa es mi tipo de lucha favorita. Así que sí, definitivamente quiero probar Japón, y sí, simplemente ir más allá. Simplemente ir más allá.

Pep: Ahora quiero salir del ring. Entonces, ¿puedes contarnos sobre tus aficiones y sobre lo que sueles hacer en tu vida diaria?
Kuro: Pues, en mi vida diaria trabajo con niños, niños con discapacidades y cosas así, así que aparte de eso, lo que solía hacer es que soy un gran fan de los videojuegos, y también soy un gran aficionado a la música. Así que paso mi tiempo yendo a exposiciones de música o conciertos. También paso tiempo con mis amigos, y sí, también juego videojuegos con ellos, y aparte de eso, simplemente entrenar y escuchar música, eso es lo principal para mí. La música. Y también la moda, como puedes ver, soy un gran fan del universo de la moda, así que me gusta mucho ir a las tiendas a ver, ni siquiera comprar. Sino simplemente ver cosas y cosas así. Y sí, eso es lo que hago, eso es lo que hago. Es por eso que digo que soy el mejor vestido en el futuro, porque soy un gran fan de la moda y eso es lo que demuestro en el ring. Así que sí, tengo que hacer todo esto para mostrar el personaje.
Pep: Eso también es algo importante en la lucha libre, la presentación.
Kuro: Sí, creo que para mí es una de las cosas más importantes. Sí, es una de las cosas más importantes para mí, la presentación. La lucha libre, como cuando vi a The Rock por primera vez, por ejemplo. Pensé, ¿quién es este?, es genial. Lo mismo con Okada, cuando hace The Rainmaker, pensé, eso es genial. Pep: Hello, friends! Welcome back! We are joined by a new wrestler and it is Mr. Hype, Kuro. Welcome Kuro! It’s a pleasure to have you here.
Kuro: Thank you, thank you! My pleasure.
Pep: Okay, we have some questions for you today. Are you ready?
Kuro: Yeah, sure.
Pep: Great! So, let’s go back to the beginning of your career. So, can you tell us, when did you decide to become a professional wrestler?
Kuro: I made the decision in 2017, I had just finished high school. So, I thought that for years I wanted to be a professional wrestler, so I thought, well, now that I finished school, I would say… I can continue my professional wrestling career, I can start training and stuff. So, yeah, I just looked for a school and found APC (Catch). It was like 30 minutes away from my house. So it was really easy to go. I went there and did a tryout. I would say 2 or 3 trainings. It was really good, I felt good, I didn’t feel like my body was sore or anything, I felt really good, so I was like, pk, I’m just going to keep going, and now here we are.
Pep: That’s great! Do you have references for your wrestling style?
Kuro: I would say my references are based more on Kazuchika Okada. He’s one of my favorite wrestlers. I would say The Rock, the way I present myself and stuff is similar to The Rock. I would say there are also non-wrestlers, but they are my references for my character, like Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar. I have to draw inspiration from them, and I would say Roderick Strong. Strong is also a big, big influence, his strong style is one of my favorite things about him, and the way he’s explosive is one of my favorites as well.
Pep: Perfect! You usually compete on the French scene, so can you tell us about the current state of it?
Kuro: So I would say that the current state of France is like the scene is booming, the scene is really growing. Like we had WWE Backlash last year and all the shows are getting better and better and I think 2025 is going to be a lot bigger and I think we can now say that France is one of the best countries in wrestling. We have guys like me, Aigle Blanc, Thiago Montero, A-Buck, Mecha, Celine and now we also have the students. The guys who are training and are now on the shows and are starting to appear on the scene. You can see me with Mecha for example, he is my tag team partner. We have been to Ireland, Scotland. So yeah, I think the French scene is booming right now.
Pep: That’s great, it’s healthy for the whole European scene! And now I wanted to talk about your experience abroad because I know you’ve been to different countries in Europe. You had a big debut in the States earlier this year, can you tell us about that?
Kuro: Sure, going to America… it was my first time in America. So, I think it was a dream for me to not only wrestle in America, but just go there. Based on the influence I have over music, movies and everything. And it felt like a big moment of accomplishment for me. I can’t wait to be back in the States and do much bigger things. But yeah, what I did this year was really… How would I say? A major point, I would say, you know? Major point, yeah, yeah, I’m really thankful to have been there. I hope to be back soon.
Pep: Hopefully. You had some big fights this year. You’re going to have more before the year is over. But if you could choose your opponent, let’s say a dream match, who would you choose?
Kuro: Well, one of my dream matches is one that’s going to take place next week, December 8th against LJ Cleary. That was one of my dream matches on the scene. The next one is, I would say in Europe, the best one I want to face is Michael Oku. Yeah, I think he’s the best for me in Europe. And also one of the best in the world. So for me, to get to the next level which I’m aiming for actually. But to go further, I think I have to face him. And I think he’s a great guy as well. Well, not a great guy, but yeah, I want to face him. I think he was number one on my list. I also had Leon Slater on my list. But we’ve faced each other before, so I would like to do it again as well. And I would say, Zozaya as well. After seeing him tonight and even some shows when we were both on the same shows, I think he’s the guy I want to face as well.
Pep: Great. I’ll highlight the mention of Michael Oku because one of his favorite wrestlers is The Rock, so you’re agreeing on that aspect.
Kuro: Yeah, but I’m a bigger fan and a bigger fan of The Rock than Michael Oku. Yeah, there’s no one like me as a fan of The Rock. So, yeah, Oku can leave that position. I’m The Rock’s number one fan.
Pep: And now I wanted to know if you have a specific goal for next year.
Kuro: I would probably say, to be more in the UK. Yeah, I started to get into the UK scene this year. I would say, to be more in the scene there, to get to know some new countries. Also to go back to Spain. I loved the experience I had today. Well, yeah, to go back to Spain as soon as possible, really. And I would also say Japan, I would say I’m really looking forward to trying Japan, Japanese wrestling is my favorite type of wrestling. So yeah, I definitely want to try Japan, and yeah, just go further. Just go further.
Pep: Well, I hope your goals come true.
Kuro: We’ll see.
Pep: Now I want to get out of the ring. So can you tell us about your hobbies and what you usually do in your daily life?
Kuro: Well, in my daily life I work with children, children with disabilities and stuff like that, so apart from that, what I used to do is I’m a big fan of video games, and I’m also a big fan of music. So I spend my time going to music exhibitions or concerts. I also spend time with my friends, and yeah, I play video games with them too, and apart from that, just training and listening to music, that’s the main thing for me. Music. And also fashion, as you can see, I’m a big fan of the fashion universe, so I really like going to stores to see, not even buy. But just look at things and stuff like that. And yeah, that’s what I do, that’s what I do. That’s why I say I’m the best dressed in the future, because I’m a big fan of fashion and that’s what I show in the ring. So yeah, I have to do all this to show the character.
Pep: That’s also something important in wrestling, the presentation.
Kuro: Yeah, I think for me it’s one of the most important things. Yeah, it’s one of the most important things for me, the presentation. Wrestling, like when I saw The Rock for the first time, for example. I thought, who is this? He’s cool. Same with Okada, when he does The Rainmaker, I thought, that’s cool. So yeah, I have to think about the presentation. That’s why I’m a big fan of fashion and music.
