Ochoa es un luchador español, Pep S. Caro tuvo la oportunidad de entrevistarlo de forma exclusiva en Madrid antes del combate más importante de su carrera al competir por el Campeonato Absoluto de la Triple W.

Entrevista con Ochoa (Triple W): Lo profesional y lo personal (Spanish & English)
Pep: ¡Hola, amigos! Bienvenidos nuevamente. Estamos acompañados por Ochoa, luchador español. ¡Bienvenido, Ochoa! Gracias por acompañarnos.
Ochoa: Muchas gracias a ti.
Pep: Mira Ochoa, quería hacerte unas preguntas el día de hoy. Y la primera de estas es ¿Cuándo y por qué hiciste convertirte en luchador?
Ochoa: Pues yo creo que como todos más o menos un poquito. Aquí hubo una ola en España en 2006-2008. Me lo puso mi padre un día. Me dijo te voy a poner algo que veía yo en los 80, en los 90. Y lo empecé a ver. Tuve una época de verlo unos cuantos años. Y evidentemente imitarlo en el sofá, en el sillón, como dicen que no hay que hacer. Y luego lo dejé un tiempo. Como 2015 o así ya lo dejé de ver. Y fue cuando regresé aquí a Madrid, que yo nací aquí pero luego me fui a vivir fuera. Y cuando regresé aquí me enteré de que había lucha libre local, castiza, aquí en Madrid. Y pues me apunté. O sea, vine al primer show y me enamoré.
Pep: Y al poco tiempo ya me apunté en la escuela y aquí estoy. Menudo camino. Ahora quería preguntar un poco por tu personaje. Tú eres un luchador que actualmente en la Triple W estás compitiendo en singles. Pero también formas parte de un equipo, una facción que es el Cuchu F. C. ¿Qué nos puedes contar sobre esto? Por un lado, tu carrera como luchador individual y luego también formar parte de un equipo?
Ochoa: Pues son dos cosas. Mi personaje claramente separa un poco, ya que lo que hemos mostrado sobre todo durante estos últimos años en Triple W en la historia que he tenido, es que mi personaje tiene una autoestima baja, poca confianza, incluso poco carisma. Y ha ido poco a poco ganando esa confianza, ese apoyo del público, ese encontrar quién era Ochoa realmente. Y ha sido desde este año, desde el principio de la temporada más o menos, que Ochoa por fin encontró quién era. Y a la vez que encontraba quién era y esa confianza en sí mismo, encontraba también la victoria en los combates. Y a la vez ha sido que el estar en el Cuchu F. C. con gente tan guay, como Lacayo, Cuchu, Martí. Me han ayudado también a encontrar un grupo de gente con el cual yo me siento muy cómodo, fuera y dentro del ring. Me lo paso bien en el ring, incluso con ese poder hacer cosas juntos, hemos logrado los cinturones por pareja de Tyris Wrestling. Que ahora tristemente perdimos, pero dudo mucho que tardemos mucho en recuperarlos.
Pep: ¿Ahora quería preguntarte por tu combate favorito del año pasado?
Ochoa: Pues, me cuesta elegir uno. Pero seguramente sea el 3 vs 3 que tuve con Acónito y yo haciendo pareja con los Fresh Brothes, un 3 vs 3 en Level Up. Porque fue tanto personalmente como luchador fuera del ring como dentro del ring en la historia de Ochoa, fue un punto de inflexión de decir, vale, este es realmente Ochoa y esto es lo que soy capaz de hacer. Y a partir de ahí pues fue un cambio de engranaje como se suele decir para poder hacer las cosas mucho mejor.
Pep: Bueno, y has coincidido porque los Fresh Brothers también mencionaron ese como su combate favorito del año pasado.
Ochoa: No me extraña, la verdad es que está feo que lo digamos los propios luchadores del combate, pero es que fue un combatazo.
Pep: Sí, y saben, tienen que revisarlo en el canal de la Triple W. Ahora quisiera preguntarte por tu momento favorito del año pasado.
Ochoa: Pues, podría decir perfectamente el mismo combate. Y algunos detalles de ese combate, pero por poner algo distinto, el comienzo en septiembre de la temporada. En Top 1, el X Madrid (centro comercial). Simplemente el mero hecho de salir al ring para el main event de total de top 1. Y encontrarte los 3 pisos del X Madrid llenos de gente, creo que había mil personas. Es una estampa que nunca olvidaré. La sensación de adrenalina y de no creérmelo de ver tanta gente alrededor de mí, pendientes de lo que hago en el ring. Es indescriptible, es increíble.
Pep: Genial, yo vi fotos y vídeos de la experiencia en el X Madrid y también es diferente. O sea estar fuera de lo que se considera un recinto de lucha libre y también con tanta gente que es fan, o sea con la gente casual. Que está ahí pasando.
Ochoa: Exactamente, de hecho, considero que el wrestling que tienes que hacer cuando tienes a tu público habitual, es muy distinto al que tienes que hacer cuando sabes que tienes un público que o no ve wrestling o lo ve, o ha visto poco. Entonces, en ese combate en concreto fueron a ver un combate con escaleras y otros combates en los que nosotros hicimos spots muy peligrosos o muy llamativos, pero que al público casual le vuelve loco. Definitivamente, ven a un tío lanzándose de una escalera con otro agarrando el cuello, pues la gente flipa.
Pep: ¡Perfecto! Entendieron bien el lugar y el contexto en el que estaban.
Ochoa: Desde luego.
Pep: Has enfrentado a mucha gente en la Triple W y bueno también como el Cuchu F. C. has tenido oportunidad de enfrentarA rivales que no son de Madrid, digamos. Entonces, quería preguntarte si tienes algún oponente que no hayas enfrentado todavía que te gustaría enfrentar o incluso podemos irnos hasta el fantasy book y no alguien que te encantaría. Y aunque la posibilidad sea remota pero que te gustaría enfrentar.
Ochoa: Pues ahora mismo en la escena naciona te voy a decir dos uno para tag, para singles, para singles pese a que ya me he enfrentado con él varias veces, el despunte que ha tenido ahora. Despunte entre comillas porque nos lo esperábamos todos. Zozaya, es increíble. Entonces, nos hemos enfrentado creo que a lo largo de nuestros años tres o cuatro veces en total. Tanto en tag como singles. Pero tener un mano a mano quizás con un posible campeonato absoluto de la Triple W si tengo la suerte de ganarlo. Pues sería increíble. Pero sería un rival increíble y creo que ahora mismo sería un reto muy gordo con el nivel que demuestra. Y tendría muchas ganas porque la última vez que nos enfrentamos en singles él ya tenía un nivel increíble. Pero no es lo que es ahora que es una máquina de luchar y en tag, pues me caen muy bien, son de mis mejores amigos en el wrestling pero un Cuchu F. C. contra los Fresh Brothers. Aunque seamos completamente amigos, estaría muy bien.
Pep: No pues es la sana competencia.
Ochoa: Completamente y quién sabe yo qué sé, con los títulos de la Triple W en juego y con los de Tyris si conseguimos retomarlos también. Pero me encantaría tener un combate con ellos y sería increíble. Los he tenido como compañeros de equipo. Tenerlos como rivales solo haría que mejore la cosa.
Pep: Son dos grandes combates de la escena nacional que esperamos ver pronto. Y ahora quería preguntar si tienes objetivos específicos para lo que resta el año. Estamos en junio. Quedan exactamente seis meses. ¿Qué podrías contarnos?
Ochoa: Esta temporada me la he tomado como un reto de poder establecerme como una persona, un wrestler al que pues les guste tener a las compañías en España. Triple W especialmente. Pero en todas. En sus carteleras habitualmente y en este caso en combates importantes como por el título Absoluto. Pues si el objetivo de este combate que tengo ahora es demostrar lo que puedo estar ahí, la temporada que viene, tiene que seguir ese camino, de demostrar o seguir demostrando que puedo estar habitualmente en este tipo de combates. Carteleras, etcétera y en general pues poder estar luchando por alrededor de España tanto en tag como en singles.
Pep: ¡Perfecto! Ochoa, ¡tienes algún mensaje para tus fans que estén viendo esto?
Ochoa: Bueno pues lo primero que muchas gracias a todos los que vengáis a Total Rumble X. Bueno y a los que no vengáis pero lo veáis desde fuera cuando se publique. ¡Muchas gracias por el apoyo! Sobre todo por hacer el pedazo de lleno que hemos hecho hoy en la Sala Revi. Y nada, espero que os guste mucho el evento que hemos preparado con tanto tiempo y tanta ganas y que nada que el wrestling no se acaba aquí, que continúa la temporada que viene y que estaremos con muchas más ganas. Pep: Hello, friends! Welcome back. We are joined by Ochoa, a Spanish wrestler. Welcome, Ochoa! Thank you for joining us.
Ochoa: Thank you very much.
Pep: Look, Ochoa, I wanted to ask you a few questions today. And the first of these is: When and why did you become a wrestler?
Ochoa: Well, I think I did, more or less, like everyone else. There was a wave here in Spain in 2006-2008. My father put it on for me one day. He said, I’m going to put on something that I watched in the 80s, in the 90s. And I started watching it. I had a period of watching it for a few years. And obviously, I imitated it on the sofa, on the armchair, as they say you shouldn’t do. And then I stopped watching it for a while. Around 2015 or so, I stopped watching it. And that was when I came back here to Madrid, since I was born here but then I went to live abroad. And when I came back here I found out that there was local, traditional wrestling here in Madrid. And so I signed up. I mean, I came to the first show and I fell in love.
Pep: And soon after I signed up for the school and here I am. What a journey. Now I wanted to ask a little about your character. You are a wrestler who is currently competing in singles on Triple W. But you are also part of a team, a faction which is the Cuchu F. C. What can you tell us about this? On the one hand, your career as an individual wrestler and then also being part of a team?
Ochoa: Well, there are two things. My character clearly separates a little, since what we have shown especially during these last years on Triple W in the story that I have had, is that my character has low self-esteem, little confidence, even little charisma. And he has been slowly gaining that confidence, that support from the public, that finding out who Ochoa really was. And it has been since this year, since the beginning of the season more or less, that Ochoa finally found who he was. And at the same time that he found who he was and that self-confidence, he also found victory in fights. And at the same time, being in Cuchu F. C. with such cool people, like Lacayo, Cuchu, Martí, has also helped me find a group of people with whom I feel very comfortable, outside and inside the ring. I have a good time in the ring, even with that power to do things together, we have achieved the Tyris Wrestling tag team belts. Now we have sadly lost them, but I doubt very much that it will take us long to recover them.
Pep: Now I wanted to ask you about your favorite fight from last year?
Ochoa: Well, it’s hard for me to choose one. But it’s probably the 3 vs 3 that I had with Acónito and I as a team with the Fresh Brothers, a 3 vs 3 at Level Up. Because it was both personally as a wrestler outside the ring and inside the ring in the history of Ochoa, it was a turning point to say, okay, this is really Ochoa and this is what I’m capable of doing. And from there it was a gear change as they say to be able to do things much better.
Pep: Well, and you agreed because the Fresh Brothers also mentioned that as their favorite match of last year.
Ochoa: I’m not surprised, the truth is that it’s ugly that the wrestlers of the match say it, but it was a great match.
Pep: Yes, and you know, you have to check it out on the Triple W channel. Now I would like to ask you about your favorite moment of last year.
Ochoa: Well, I could perfectly say the same match. And some details of that fight, but to put something different, the beginning of the season in September. In Top 1, the X Madrid (shopping center). Simply the mere fact of going out to the ring for the main event of total top 1. And finding the 3 floors of the X Madrid full of people, I think there were a thousand people. It is a picture that I will never forget. The feeling of adrenaline and of not believing it to see so many people around me, attentive to what I do in the ring. It is indescribable, it is incredible.
Pep: Great, I saw photos and videos of the experience at the X Madrid and it is also different. I mean being outside of what is considered a wrestling venue and also with so many people who are fans, that is, with the casual people. What is happening there.
Ochoa: Exactly, in fact, I consider that the wrestling that you have to do when you have your usual audience, is very different from the one you have to do when you know that you have an audience that either does not watch wrestling or watches it, or has seen little. So, in that particular fight they went to see a fight with ladders and other fights in which we did very dangerous or very striking spots, but that the casual public goes crazy for. Definitely, they see a guy jumping off a ladder with another guy grabbing his neck, and people go crazy.
Pep: Perfect! They understood the place and the context they were in.
Ochoa: Of course.
Pep: You have faced a lot of people in the Triple W and well, like Cuchu F. C. you have also had the opportunity to face rivals that are not from Madrid, let’s say. So, I wanted to ask you if you have any opponent that you haven’t faced yet that you would like to face or we can even go as far as the fantasy book and not someone that you would love. And although the possibility is remote, but that you would like to face.
Ochoa: Well, right now on the national scene I’m going to tell you two, one for tag, for singles, for singles, even though I’ve already faced him several times, the rise he’s had now. Rise in quotes because we all expected it. Zozaya, it’s incredible. So, I think we’ve faced each other three or four times in total over the years. Both in tag and singles. But to have a one on one perhaps with a possible absolute Triple W championship if I’m lucky enough to win it. Well, that would be incredible. But he would be an incredible rival and I think that right now it would be a very big challenge with the level he shows. And I would really like it because the last time we faced each other in singles he already had an incredible level. But he’s not what he is now, which is that he’s a fighting machine and in tag, well, I like them a lot, they’re some of my best friends in wrestling, but a Cuchu F. C. against the Fresh Brothers. Even though we’re completely friends, that would be great.
Pep: No, well, it’s healthy competition.
Ochoa: Completely, and who knows what I know, with the Triple W titles at stake and Tyris’s if we manage to get them back too. But I would love to have a match with them and it would be incredible. I have had them as teammates. Having them as rivals would only make things better.
Pep: They are two great matches on the national scene that we hope to see soon. And now I wanted to ask if you have specific goals for the rest of the year. We are in June. There are exactly six months left. What could you tell us?
Ochoa: I have taken this season as a challenge to establish myself as a person, a wrestler that companies in Spain like to have. Triple W especially. But in all of them. On their cards usually and in this case in important matches like for the Absolute title. Well, if the objective of this match that I have now is to show that I can be there, next season, it has to follow that path, to show or continue showing that I can be regularly in this type of matches. Posters, etc. and in general, being able to fight around Spain both in tag and singles.
Pep: Perfect! Ochoa, do you have any message for your fans who are watching this?
