Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling está experimentando un recambio generacional en su roster con luchadoras más jóvenes destacando y ganando Campeonatos. Miu Watanabe, la Princess of Princess Champion, es quien lidera actualmente a TJPW. Watanabe venció a Miyu Yamashita, luchadora insignia de la compañía, en Grand Princess ’24 el 31 de marzo para ganar el Campeonato máximo de TJPW.
Antes de su próxima defensa titular del Campeonato ante Vert Vixen en PRISM ’24, Pep S. Caro tuvo la oportunidad de entrevistar a Miu Watanabe. La Campeona e integrante del grupo idol Up Up Girls! respondió varias de las preguntas de Pep. Pep: ¡Felicitaciones por convertirte en Princess of Princess Champion y Grand Slam Champion en TJPW! Derrotaste a Miyu Yamashita para ganar el campeonato y empatar el marcador en combates individuales (2-2) con ella. ¿Es Yamashita el reto más duro que has tenido en TJPW hasta ahora? ¿Y cómo describirías la química en el ring entre ambas?
Miu: Ella es una luchadora senior que ha sido de gran ayuda para mí desde antes de debutar, y siempre quise ganarle y había puesto mis ojos en ella.
Pep: ¿Cómo fue tu experiencia compitiendo y representando a TJPW en el Tour en Estados Unidos en 2024 como Princess of Princess Champion? Tuviste dos combates haciendo equipo con Rika Tatsumi. ¿Hubieras preferido tener combates individuales?
Miu: ¡Estuve feliz de poder mostrar nuestro equipo “Daydream” a los fans estadounidenses!
Pep: En TJPW PRISM ’24 tendrás tu segunda defensa del Campeonato contra Vert Vixen, la ex DEFY Women’s World Champion y del reinado más largo con ese Campeonato. ¿Cuáles son tus expectativas para este combate? ¿Has estado investigando sobre ella?
Miu: ¡Estoy segura de que le gustan Japón y TJPW! ¡Así que quiero darle el mejor combate posible y luego quiero vencerla! Y también quiero que disfrute de Japón.
Pep: Si llegas al verano como Campeona, te enfrentarás al escenario de competir en la Tokyo Princess Cup 11 como Campeona. Si ganas el torneo, podrás elegir personalmente a tu próximo retador para Wrestle Princess V. En ese escenario, ¿a quién nombrarías como tu oponente para ese show?
Miu: No lo sabré hasta entonces, pero alguien que haya tenido este cinturón antes, como Mizuki o Rika (Tatsumi). También me gustaría pelear contra Yuki Aino, quien debutó en un momento similar al mío.
Pep: Son varias las luchadores de TJPW que han competido en Europa, en países como España y Reino Unido. Miyu Yamashita y Maki Itoh, por poner algunos ejemplos. Incluso en RCW en España fue donde Yamashita conoció a Mercedes Moné y Millie McKenzie entre otras luchadoras del panorama mundial. ¿Tienes algún interés en competir en un país europeo? ¿Hay alguna promoción específica en la que te gustaría tener un combate?
Miu: ¡Me encantaría ir a todos los shows en el extranjero que TJPW ya tiene programados! Estoy especialmente interesada en el show conjunto con EVE en el Reino Unido, ya que nunca antes lo he experimentado.
Pep: Sabemos que te gusta cantar, bailar, entrenar y luchar pero queríamos saber si tienes algún pasatiempo que te guste hacer además de los mencionados. Cuéntanos cómo es un día normal en la vida de Miu Watanabe. ¿Y hay algo que creas que es importante que tus fanáticos sepan sobre ti?
Miu: ¡Básicamente todos los días canto, bailo, practico (para los combates) y entreno! Aparte de eso, amo mucho Disney e ir a Tokyo Disneyland es mi pasatiempo.
¡Quiero ser una princesa de Disney y hacer del Castillo de Cenicienta mi hogar!

Pep: Si pudieras traer a cualquier luchadora del mundo para competir contra ti en un combate en un ring de TJPW, ¿a quién elegirías? ¿Por qué él o ella?
Miu: ¡Me gustaría luchar nuevamente en un futuro lejano con Billie Starkz, quien luchó durante la gira en los Estados Unidos en abril pasado!

Pep: Congratulations on becoming a Princess of Princess Champion and a Grand Slam Champion in TJPW! You defeated Miyu Yamashita to win the Championship and tie the score in singles matches (2-2) with her. Is Yamashita the toughest challenge you’ve had in TJPW so far? And how would you describe the chemistry in the ring between both of you?
Miu: She is a senior wrestler who has been a great help to me since before I debuted, and I have always wanted to win and had set my sights on her.
Pep: How was your experience competing and representing TJPW in the 2024 US Tour as the Princess of Princess Champion? You had two tag matches with Rika Tatsumi. Would you have preferred to have individual matches?
Miu: I was just happy to be able to show our tag team “Daydream” to the American fans!
Pep: At TJPW PRISM ’24 you will have your second defense of the Championship against Vert Vixen, the former and longest reigning DEFY Women’s World Champion. What are your expectations for this match? Have you been researching about her?
Miu: I am sure she likes Japan and TJPW! So I want to give her the best match and then I want to beat her! And I want her to enjoy Japan.
Pep: If you reach the summer as Champion, you will be faced with the scenario of competing in the Tokyo Princess Cup 11 as Champion. If you win the tournament you will be able to personally choose your next challenger for Wrestle Princess V. In that scenario, who would you name as your opponent for that show?
Miu: I won’t know until then, but someone who has held this belt, such as Mizuki or Rika. I would also like to fight Yuki Aino, who debuted at a similar time to me.
Pep: There are several TJPW wrestlers who have competed in Europe, in countries like Spain and the United Kingdom. Miyu Yamashita and Maki Itoh to give some examples. Even in RCW Spain it was where Yamashita met Mercedes Moné and Millie McKenzie among other wrestlers from the world stage. Do you have any interest in competing in a European country? Is there a specific promotion you would like to have a match for?
Miu: I would love to go to all of the shows abroad that TJPW has already scheduled! I am especially interested in the joint show with EVE in the UK, as I have not experienced it before!
Pep: We know that you like to sing, dance, train and wrestle but we wanted to know if you have any hobbies that you like to do in addition to those mentioned. Please tell us what a normal day is like in the life of Miu Watanabe. And is there anything you believe it’s important that your fans know about you?
Miu: Basically every day I sing, dance, practice and train! Other than that, I love Disney very much and going to Tokyo Disneyland is my hobby!
I want to be a Disney Princess and make Cinderella Castle my home!
Please let me wear the glass slipper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also like Marie and Alice in Wonderland!
Pep: If you could bring any wrestler in the world to compete against you in a match in a TJPW ring, who would you pick? Why him or her?
Miu: I would like to fight Billie Starkz, who fought in the U.S. this past April, again in the distant future!
